Extra Clearance Axis (XC) — DIY Mechanical CAD Files

Add an extra clearance axis to your existing DIY ATC. These files give you everything you need to build and install the mechanical components for the conversion.

Once installed, the XC axis retracts the ATC an additional 3 inches out of the way while you machine, then brings it back in for tool changes. Your carousel and stored tools stay clear of tall stock, vises, fixtures, RapidTurn setups and 4th-axis rotary tables.

What’s included

• Fusion 360 design files for all XC mechanical components and the XC column mount (other formats available on request)
• CAD file list
• McMaster-Carr hardware and parts are named by part number in the CAD model, so you can read them straight from the browser tree and order

What’s not included

• Electronics. The XC axis needs the XC ATC Interface PCB to run (sold separately as a kit).
• Hardware, air cylinder and stock material, sourced from McMaster-Carr using the part numbers in the CAD model
• Linear rails: 2× HGR15 × 200 mm rails with 4× HGH15CA carriage blocks (standard, non-flanged), available on eBay or Amazon

Requirements

• An existing, working DIY ATC
• Ability to machine the parts
• Compressed air supply
• PathPilot 2.x on an M-series, Series 3 or DIY machine

Format: Digital download, provided as Fusion 360 files. After purchase, you’ll get a download link by email. The link expires after 72 hours, so save the files once you’ve downloaded them. Other formats are available on request; contact us after purchase. No physical parts ship with this item.
